How to stick to healthy habits

When making changes, add things into your diet and lifestyle rather than viewing it as taking things away. Don’t be too strict on yourself with this process, it is a process and it will take time. Food swapping is a great way of adding things into your diet, for example:

  • Swap sugar for Stevia and raw maple syrup
  • Swap white bread for sourdough, rye or multigrain bread.
  • Swap coffee for dandelion tea or herbal teas

It’s important not to feel guilty if you have a slip up on your road to a healthy lifestyle. Having a slice of cake with a friend doesn’t mean that you’ve failed on your quest. Just hop back onto the wagon and keep moving forward. Being gentle with yourself and forgiving yourself are really important tools on your road to health.

Keep your goals foremost in your mind. It helps to write them down and stick them somewhere that you will see them every day, such as your fridge or the back of your toilet door. When you’re constantly reminded of your goals it’s easier to keep on track.

When setting your goals, make sure they are achievable for you and realistic. When you believe that it’s possible for you to achieve your goals, you can make it happen!

Creating an Inspiration board can be a really good visual way of keeping your goals in your mind and exciting you to achieve them. Make it colourful and inspiring to you. A vision board is something you can always add to and adapt as you reach your goals and make new ones too!
