Bowel cancer screening involves a test for bowel cancer in people who do not have any obvious symptoms of the disease.
Bowel cancer can develop without any early warning signs. The cancer can grow on the inside wall of the bowel for several years before spreading to other parts of the body.
Often very small amounts of blood, invisible to the naked eye, leak from these growths and pass into bowel movements before any symptoms are noticed.
Bowel Screening tests are available at all UFS Pharmacies stores, always seek qualified advice from your UFS Pharmacist or doctor about which test is right for you.
For persons aged between 50 and 74 you will be invited to partake in the Australian Government’s National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. You will receive a home test kit every two years directly to your home with clear instructions on how to take the test. The home test isn’t as scary as you might think it is – watch the video below.
